So lets rap this up shall we? This isn't going to be easy, good things that end never are, but good things always come to an end in one way or another or sooner or later, so lets...

I last left you in Iringa Tanzania. I took a early bus to Dar es Salaam and got there around 3pm. I proceeded to send a few emails and do a few other things. I went to visit a few old friends, Yona Boaz - a karate superstar, and Helena - a computer techie, with whom I stayed for a few nights. I went to a few old hangs such as the Royal Chole Road Country Club, The Q-Bar, and the late-night street friers for greasy-ass chicken and an omlette called "Chipsy Mayi and Mboga", which is homefries and eggs with shredded cabbage, lettuce, and tomato all fried together as an omlette, YEAH! I also went to Bar es Salaam, which was a pretty groovy, but way too expensive bar.

I left Dar on the 11 o'clock plane that, just as things do in Africa, didn't leave until 2ish. So, I went to Jo'burg and hung out with Nunu, Dave, Neil, Tholang, and Chris. We chilled, yeah we chilled and I also went to see X-MEN; quite disappointing really. I left jo'burg reluctantly a few days later. I was getting all teary eyed when I left Tanzania. Tears were streaming actualy, quite a pitiful site for my taxi driver I am sure. But this is the way it goes. A guy I know said a few things that come to mind, after a few, uh, corrections that is. "WE $%@#ing DID IT, that trip was AMAZING, better than ugali, holy mother$%@#er, what a trip that was, no one does that kind of stuff like we did, or at least very few. Its gonna be weird not being around you guys all the time like we were, but we formed bonds here that are never forgotten, so even if we can't always hang out all the time, still: WE did it man, we did it. $%@# all the naysayers, $%@# all the Europe sayers, $%@# everyone who thought it wouldn't work or who questioned us. They just dont understand, but we do, and we did it." Yeah, that's right, we did do it. I would just like to say thanks to everyone for listening to me this whole time. Well, at least my typing got better, if nothing else. Although, my grasp of English grammer and spelling may not have improved. I know you guys liked listening to me though, as another wise man I know once said. "I anticipate each installment. Stop speaking to me, and I shall also fall silent." Who then added (as a post-thought I am sure) "Don't come home. Regards..." (a good friend who may like to remain nameless). I am sure the reason why he told me not to come home was to enjoy traveling and not because he didn't want to not see me anymore.

--Just a warning: At this point this update becomes an advertisment for my website so don't continue without that in mind--

"What did I get out of this trip?" or "So, Aaron, How was it?" Well for the most part I don't think I need to hear that question from you guys, since I sent you updates on my trip everyfew weeks or so. But one thing that I did get out of it was an idea about a few schemes to get others to travel to Africa and for myself to go back, in spirit at least, with anyone who does. This website will become a site designed to assist travelers or would be travelers to Africa. I will provide information on routes, maps, types of transport available, trustworthy and good business people (like safari companies, lodgings and tour operators), people who can help in a crisis, things and places to eat, and how to stay healthy while traveling in Africa. The website will provide a means to know how much money you will spend on specific routes, how much you may need to buget per day, etc. All the information will include pictures, video clips, and access to me, to ask questions, advice, or just shoot the breeze. Also, I will inform the traveler on where to find travel warnings and my personal view on how and where you should travel, where I think it is most dangerous, and what you can do to protect yourself from problems when traveling.

The point of my trip, and hopefully others, is to travel to Africa in your way; not with some expensive safari company that only goes to the benign, flavorless places or with an overland company where the trip is about as adventurous as a pair of socks. The point was/is/will be to find out how amazing ugali (add a link to a picture of ugali) really is or to decide to get stuck for longer than expected on the most beautiful islands on the edge of the earth, where the stars fill the sky-dome all the way to the horizon at night and you KNOW it's not from the hash that you smoked. The point was/is/will be to travel as a human interacting with humans who live in the lands that you travel through. To REALLY experience Africa, as an African would, not as a ghost (as many Africans think wazungus- foreigners, usuually white people- are ghosts).

To the left of this screen is a list of pictures. I have attempted to put them in date order . These are the pictures, that I took for the most part, that are most reflective of my adventures with Jon and Ryan, and of course assorted friends, travelers, and africans along the way.
What are you waiting for, let's go!
