We just spent a week in the Kalahari desert in SA.  Camping, really camping with much for dinner everynight, cooked over a fire.  Lunches in parks were the animals were probably watching/stalking us and getting ready to eat us.  Not changing my shirt or pants for a week and sleeping in all my clothes cause my sleeping bag only is to 40 degress and it dropped to 25 at night.  We woke up a few times with ice inside our tents.  My overshirt was so dirty from would smoke, snot, grease, dirt, dust, and whatever else i coudl wipe on it that it changed colors ont he sleeves and front from the back.  I sleptin it everynight and wore it all day for 6 nights.  I had a T-shirt underneath, but that wasn't very clean either.  I changed pants to shorts when it was hot.  BUT at least i changed socks and underwear every day.

We saw cheetah, bat eared fox, cape fox, agama lizards, vultures, gemsbok, topi, wildebeest, springbok, and other animals.  It was scary to be at a pcinic site with no other people for kilometeres and not knowing if a lion was watching us.  There were plenty of lion and leopard trakcs were we walking around in the park so i knew that they were nearby when we go out of the little car that we rented.  Its funny cause we ate tuna fish for lunch (what better to attract cats with right!).

Now we are about to leave South africa for Namibia and good riddence, cause i don't like South Africa.  It is too hostile and too posh for what I came to africa for.

I got quite a tan in the kalahari.  We saw fox, cheetah, gemsbok and so on.  It was quite fun there.  We are off to namibia tomorrow and our 40 to 50 kilometer walking safaris that I am looking very much forward to.  The parks we go to wil most likely not have lion, but will have rhino and leopard where we go on unguided hikes for about 4 days, in circuits.  There are little chalets for hikers along the way in these parks.  One is called Waterberg.

I have a mail box in johanenesburg that I will get to in about 1 monthand then again when I leave south africa (2 times at the very least).  Please mail me there for the next month and then I may also have a mail box in Tanzania soon after.  It takes about 2 weeks to get there so don't mail stuff there after two weeks from now (the j'burg address).
