  • Western Cape - 1 Week

  • Day One: Cape Town & Kirstenbosch
    Land in Cape Town and spend a relaxing day getting acquinted with the city. Visit the nearby Kirstenbocsh Botanical Garden nestled in the foot of table Mountain. Kirstenbosch known as one of the most beautiful gardens in the world and boast over 9,000 South African plants, mostly indigenous.
    Cape Town is also famous for it's interesting mix of cuisine including traditional Afrikaans, Malaysian, French & Indian food. A perfect choice is the Malaysian/ Indonesian L'Orient. Afterwards sleep peacefully under the blanket of Table Mountains "Table Cloth" fog that billows gently down into the city center at night.
    Day Two: Namaqualand
    Drive north along the Atlantic Coast through the awe inspiring bloom of Namaqualand. The height of the bloom is varies but is typically between August and September.
    Springbok is the center of the flower capitol and also a quaint bohemian town. It is the last outpost before the Orange River and into Namibia. In the town you can try warthog stew, springbok kebabs, and juicy kudu steaks, all farmed on nearby ranches. Spend the night at the lovely Annie's Cottage Bed & Breakfast, with a very dedicated staff and romantic decor/grounds.
    Day Three: Goegap Nature Reserve
    This region of Southern Africa is also famous for it's indegenous succulent and flowers, and this reserve is smack in the middle. The reserve has a informative museum and nursey. Zebra, ostrich, spingbok, African wild cats, and birds are common as well. The reserve also has extensive walking trails in half the park and separate vehicle trails.

    Day Four:
    After a hearty continental breakfast we will drive around the locally recommened best flowal displays and then make our way back to Cape Town with a lunch stop at the tip of the floral region in Clanwilliam, a popular retreat for Capetonians. Arrive in Cape Town in the evening and walk to a local restaurante.
    Cape Town offers a plethora of bed & breakfast, micro-hotels, and guesthouses. Therefore, your accommodatoin will depend on your individual tastes.
    Day Five: Stellenbosch & Winery Tours
    After breakfast we will take the short drive to the wine-producing center of South Africa. Stellenbosch is South Africa's second oldest town (1679) next to Cape Town and retains the original architecture of the early Cape Dutch settlers. This is also when the first vineyards were planted. Huguenot refugees also settled this town, mixing their French flavor to the area.
    Overnight at the De Goue Druif, a national monument built in 1811 with luxury en-suite rooms. Relax after dinner in the sauna or steam room, and wake up to a hearty Afrikaans breakfast.
    Day Six: Walking Tour of Cape Town
    After your drive back to Cape Town, take a tour of Robben Island (Nelson Mandela's prison home for many years) given by a former inmate! Then enjoy a walking tour of the city or a famous Topless (the bus, not the passengers) Tour Bus ride of the city.
    Enjoy dinner in overlooking the last lip of the Atlantic before it meets the Indian Ocean.
    Day Seven: Table Mountain & Cape Town
    One more day in one of the most picturesque cities in the world. Take the cable car up Table Mountain and walk around a vegetation zone that exists no where else in the world, with a veiw of Cape Town, Lion's Head & Rump, and Robben Island.
